Volcano Choir releases second track off upcoming album

This isn’t the song you can listen to with one headphone plugged in, or in the background while you busy yourself with other things.
Every note, tone, word and sound in this song demands and commands your attention so you can fully immerse yourself in it.

Comrade is the second track released off Volcano Choir (led by Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon)’s upcoming album Repave, set to be released on the 3rd of September (9 days away but who’s counting…).

This song is beautifully energetic, uplifting and pleasant. Like its predecessor Byegone, the song has an unusually inspiring and motivating energy to it; the soft harmonic vocals fluttering back and forth in true Bon Iver style, the climactic and energetic choruses and the poetic lyrics all strictly in a major key. The haunting melancholia that Vernon’s previous projects have mastered are no more. From what we’ve heard of Repave, it seems that Volcano Choir aim to create somewhat nostalgic, passionate, warming and inspiring tunes that stay true to poetic and harmonic sweetness of Vernon’s previous work.

I first listened to this song with my eyes closed lying in bed about an hour ago and have had it on repeat since. It’s phenomenal.
