DOWNLOAD THE NEW CAPTAIN MURPHY TRACK FEATURING VIKTOR VAUGHN, EARL SWEATSHIRT AND THUNDERCAT

It would take more paragraphs than it’s worth to properly explain why this particular combination of musicians is so exciting, so I’ll just quickly abridge it. Firstly, Viktor Vaughn, the younger and more arrogant alter ego of rapper MF DOOM, is one of the most seminal figures in underground hip-hop, and his verses have influenced the careers of Earl Sweatshirt and Captain Murphy. His production would have also undoubtedly inspired Flying Lotus, the more prominent electronic project of Captain Murphy, of which the guitar and singer Thundercat is a frequent collaborator. Now all four of theses fine musicians have dropped a moody track called Between Villains on the Adult Swim Singles Program, which you can listen to below and grab for free over on Adult Swim’s website. The track sees Flying Lotus’ lush production, with bass, vocal edits, what is presumably some sporadic strings delivered from Thundercat, and the villain, Earl and Captain threateningly exchanging verses in there own distinct styles. Also check out Captain Murphy’s previous collaboration with Earl Sweatshirt called Between Friends, on last years Adult Swim Singles Program.
