The American electronic producer Machinedrum has released a video to accompany the single Eyesdontlie, off of his upcoming album, Vapor City. The album is supposedly a concept album to soundscape a fictional city, with each track representing a distinct district of the city. Eyesdontlie, if you didn’t gather from the video, is supposed define the seedy area of Vapor City, called the Fenris District, and this is conveyed in the video through various neon lights advertising “good times” and static- ridden pole-dancers. The track itself features some chiming synths and crisp percussion, but the most prominent feature of the track is the vocal sample that repeats throughout, but is altered at different parts of the song to be serene, then foreboding, then threatening. Vapor City is out September 30th via Ninja Tune.
