ELITE GYMNASTICS GETS A NEW NAME, A NEW EP AND A NEW VIDEO

James Brooks has apparently been very busy recently. The man behind the project Elite Gymnastics, which is now apparently defunct, has dropped a video from a new EP and renamed himself Dead Girlfriends. The EP is called Stop Pretending and features cover art by Brooks’ longtime friend Claire Boucher aka Grimes. At the same time of the release Brooks posted a lyric video for the track On Fraternity, which shows James sitting next to anime paraphernalia playing Nintendo with relaxing river shots projected along with the lyrics on the wall behind him. The song features some nice chimes and synths and an incredibly catchy chorus delivered in James reserved voice, and touches on the subject of sexual assault, which has led to a fair amount of controversy over the song. Check out the video below and head over to the Dead Girlfriends Bandcamp to listen and download the rest of the EP.
