Electro house duo AlunaGeorge release new single

AlunaGeorge are a prominent electro music making duo on the London scene, whose music style has been described by music magazines and blogs as “a blend between dubstep, garage and deep house”, “futuristic house hip hop” and my personal favourite, “advanced minimalistic polyrhythmic beats.”

The two have released a new track entitled Bad Idea, which features fractured and punchy percussion with resonating synths and deep bass lines with Aluna’s sugary sweet vocals dancing over the top. Her voice is soulful and sultry yet child-like and fits perfectly with the smooth electronica and deep house that George masterfully produces.

It’s irresistibly catchy from the first three seconds with Aluna Francis’ voice cleverly manipulated for a great introduction. It is strong, melodic and powerful from the get-go and stays energetic throughout.

Aluna’s impressive falsetto makes for a very charismatic chorus as it compliments the melodic synth and rhythmic bass line. The song is vibrant, up-tempo and is guaranteed to stay in your head for the rest of the day, especially the Aluna’s ‘fairy singing’ at the very top of her range. To add some variation to the tune, George cheekily adds some ‘wah’ sounds from the bass which is very 70s while the modern synth resonates over the top. Definitely a thumbs up for this track, I’m excited to see what else the pair have got in store!
