By now, those iconic mouse ears have become synonymous with punchy, progressive house tracks. Deadmau5‘s artistry in creating complextro and tech-house inspired music has lead him to the top of dance music around the world. His trenchant style, characterised by a plethora of thumping bass-lines laced with catchy synth hooks transport you momentarily to an Ibizan club where the smoke and lasers blind your eyes as you and everyone else falls under the spell of his pulsating beat. Yesterday the Canadian DJ dropped ‘Suckerfest9001’, which only lends credence to this belief .

Suckerfest9001 is definitely a pumping track; it’s energetic, powerful and catchy. There’s a strong drum and bass line that runs through most of the track while other elements such as a distorted metal bass, then a cleaner metallic high-pitched synth dance on top of i – both harmonising with and competing with one another. About half-way in, interesting and soothing synths provide a captivating melody to the track which come as pleasing change. The track, which clocks in at a little over 7 minutes, is our first taste of Mau post Album Title Goes Here, as the anticipation builds for album no. 7.
