Incredibly prolific musician Mat Cothran, who makes music under a few names but most popularly Elvis Depressedly and Coma Cinema, has released the second single from the latter project’s upcoming album ‘Posthumous Release.’ The song, ‘Burn a House’, may be Cothran’s poppiest and psychedelic song to date, with quite cheerful chirping sounds scattered throughout the song, along with his usual guitar strums. But longtime fans need not fret about the project getting less dark, as Cothran’s lyrics are as pleasantly depressing as ever, touching on kisses from Satan and his dead first girlfriend. This deceivingly upbeat song is in keeping with the first track to drop from Coma Cinema’s new album, ‘Satan Made a Mansion’, and just reassertion that Cothran is a master of mixing sweet instrumentation with morbidly depressing lyrics. ‘Posthumous Release’ drops on June 11th via Orchid Records and Fork and Spoon records.
Sounds like; Elvis Depressedly
