Almost 2 and half years since the release of Halcyon Digest, Frontman Bradford Cox and the Deerhunter team have finally hit back with the release of the title track-single off their new album entitled ‘Monomania’.
The track itself suggests a slightly new direction for the band from their previous 2010 release. A song that begins with a hard hitting, punchy and very Deerhunter-esque opening which then progresses to take a rather an unexpected side-step toward a distorded and whirlwind-like build of ever intensifying, screeching guitars, drums and Bradford Cox’s signature vocals repeatedly blaring the line ‘Mono-monomania’. A feature to any song which cannot go unnoticed and of which its sheer audacity and bravado has Bradford Cox and Deerhunter written all over it.
The noticeably bare, distortedly experimental and low-fi sound hints a return to some of the ideas heard in the bands 2008 release, Microcastle – something of which is only adding to the massive hype and anticipation for ‘Monomania’ which is set for release on May 6th. Have a listen to the track below!
