In eager anticipation to the follow up of their 2009 album ‘It’s Blitz’, so called ‘post-punk revivalist’ band, ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah’s’ have gone ahead to release the new single for their new fourth coming LP that is set for release in April this year entitled , ‘Mosquito’. The track itself, ‘Sacrilege’, upon its upload to youtube, reached in excess of 100K views in only a matter of hours and is still rising. In contrast to the supposed ‘reggae influenced’ new album, the song initially commences as one of the bands trademark indie-rock jam’s with that certain bouncy atmosphere that Yeah Yeah Yeah’s band seem to do so effortlessly in addition to Karen O’s predictably distorted and animated vocals. The song then, however, takes a pretty ambitions twist for the three piece, escalating to some unforeseen epic proportions with the introduction of a backing gospel choir which progressively builds to subsequently conclude the track shouting, singing and clapping to the words “Sacrilege, Sacrilege, Sacrilege ya say”. ‘Sacrilege’ undoubtedly gives us a few little indications that ‘Mosquito’ could very possibly see a fresh and innovative new directions for Yeah Yeah Yeahs. ‘Mosquito’ will, by all means, be an album to keep your ears out for, if ‘Sacrilege’ is anything to go by.
